Top Row: Newly hatched chick starting to dry, Kids enthralled by the chicks, Brand new chick in the incubator
Middle Row: Fluffy, Heart (named Heart because “it took a lot of heart to work from Tuesday morning until Wednesday after school to get out of the egg) , May (named because it hatched on the morning of May 1st).
Bottom Row: Kirby, Peep, and Trouble
Note: Ms. Bradley, Mrs. Goldberg, my dad and I spent some time this afternoon and tonight trying to help Trouble. We got him out of the egg, got some of the membrane off of him, got his wing unstuck from his head, fed him some sugar water, and helped prop him up so he’s right side up instead of on his back. I’m hopeful that he’ll get stronger and be out of “trouble” soon!
The kids and I got such a kick out of seeing one of our little growing chicks move in its egg yesterday. After school, I couldn’t help trying it again. Click the link below to see a video of our little guy wiggling away. Don’t mind the “ooohs”, “aaahs” and silly comments from the group of teachers that gathered to see it move, too!
We invite each of you to a celebration on Monday, April 30th, at 1:00 p.m., to demonstrate our patriotism as a school community and our appreciation for our families that serve in the military. We hope that you will be able to join us.
Our chick eggs are coming, our chick eggs are coming! Tomorrow’s the big day! Get ready for lots of excitement over the next 21 days as we learn all about embryology and the life cycle and development of our very own chicks!
